I first learned  about Fela Kuti through an African Studies class that covered politics in Africa. My classmates and I were very intrigued and captivated by his story. He was quite a vibrant personality. Many performers in the United States have drawn inspiration from his work, legendary artist James Brown has is one of them.

Kuti was a Nigerian muscisian and a politcal activist. Once I heard that there would be a broadway play  based on his music and life I could not wait to see it on stage. The show is coerographed by Tony Award-winning choreographer Bill T. Jones. If you are interested in seeing the show go here. Get your tickets from telecharge.
