Barnes & Noble is the world’s largest chain of bookstores and said it would open its own media-ebookstore on its website. Barnes and Noble said that it is offering 700,000 book titles that could be read and accessed on a bunch of devices such as Apple’s iPhone, the Blackberry and various computers for free.

I feel like computers are taking journalism to a whole other level. So when we invite people to out homes and want to recommend an interesting book, we should log on to our computers and search through a digital shelf? That’s a little awkward.

Stated in the New York Times, Barnes & Noble has been talking with publishers about setting up a new format or model in which readers will be allowed to “lend” an e-book to a friend.

Does this mean soon we won’t have to purchase textbooks? 🙂
