Foliage and Scenery of the Long Island Sound

If you’re one of those people who adore fall foliage, (despite the impending cold and newfound necessity to scrape dead leaves off the front lawn) perhaps you hadn’t considered hitting the beach for a breathtaking glimpse of those seasonal reds and golds.
The Long Island Sound, however, is surprisingly rich in autumnal character. Since 1983, the Cedar Beach Nature Center in Mount Sinai, NY has offered acres of preserved property behind the main beach that has acted as somewhat of an aesthetic playground and learning center for locals and tourists alike. Located along a 3,000-foot stretch of coastline, Cedar Beach is not only a great place to admire those seasonal hues, but is truly a museum of the natural environment and ecosystems of the Long Island Sound.
