Earlier this week, Condé Nast announced that it would be closing down Gourmet Magazine along with Elegant Bride, Modern Bride, and Cookie. According to The New York Times, Gourmet Magazine has been in circulation since January 1941.”Condé Nast tends to hold tight to its prestigious titles, making the Gourmet closing all the more startling.”
Almost 70 years of magazine publication. It offered subscribers and readers recipes, food tips and stories. The magazine is now going to be web exclusive.
Stony Brook students should surf around Gourmet magazines website. They have a whole section of recipes and cooking tips. If you are stomped on what to make for dinner or want to go challenge yourself with a difficult recipe then Gourmet.com is the place. Also, you can check out Bon Appetit Magazine and website. It’s also another great food magazine.
It’s such a shame to see a classic and well-known publication go out of business because of decline in advertisements. Gourmet was an iconic magazine for Conde Nast. Ad revenues on print publications have been hitting rock bottom and its been a major pit fall. Seems as if the days of print magazines and newspapers will be replaced by the all encompassing world of the internet.
